It took 25 hours, but the jury handed down a guilty verdict Tuesday in Mark Becker's murder trial.
Becker, who had pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity in the murder of Aplington-Parkersburg head football coach Ed Thomas, will get the verdict automatically appealed because the first-degree murder is a Class A felony with a mandatory life prison sentence.

Joan Becker said, "Ed Thomas was a victim of a victim."
